A fictional island located in Prince William Sound, Alaska, Bear Island is the creation of local writer Paul Greci. Patterns and textures in the piece are drawn from satellite imagery of Prince William Sound and the colors are my own response to the wildness of the place and the adventures of the protagonist in Paul's book, Surviving Bear Island.
