Wanting to capture the eerie and dangerous beauty of the sun and sky on a smoky day at the height of fire season, I knew I would be working with texture and sheen, so I reached out to Susan DuBois of Treenway Silks to see if she would collaborate by selecting the materials for the piece. The result is truly a collaboration - without her rich knowledge of the different silks in this piece, the result could never have captured what I hoped to convey about the experience of fire season.
