I am very excited about this new body of work. Old Man Bear is inspired by Paul Greci's book Surviving Bear Island. Drawing on his own experiences as an adventurer and outdoor educator, Paul writes rich and thrilling adventure stories for young readers. Working with imagery from Paul's book, I am creating a map of Bear Island accompanied by a set of sitting mats for kids in the classroom reading the book together. Old Man Bear is the first of the sitting rugs, gun-tufted rather than woven as tapestry, to stand up to the wear and tear they'll experience in the classroom.
