The color at the top of each woven strand represents the high temperature for that day. Below, there are three different interpretations of the snow depth for that day - a tufted weave with 1 inch of each color yarn for each inch of snow depth, a flat weave with paper yarn also incorporating 1 inch of yarn for each inch of snow depth and finally a knotted cord with one knot for each inch, allowing the viewer to handle the fringe and quickly "decode" the information.
